Budget car rental reviews1/2/2024 ![]() At this point I was in Ocean City, MD, hours away from DC. I would still be charged for the days I already had the car. I was then told that since it was in the contract, the only way to stop being charged for the remainder of my trip would be to take the car back to Reagan and sign a new contract. When I called to ask about this, I was told it was additional insurance - the $34.99/day coverage that I had declined at pick up. I looked back at the receipt and noticed I’d been charged for “additional options”. Later, when I checked my credit card, I noticed my charge for the rental was significantly higher than my reservation stated. Once paperwork was complete, she explained where I could pick up the car (on another level in the garage) and I had to ask her to repeat herself bc she was speaking so quickly. She then had me click a series of boxes on a tablet to confirm my choices. She asked about adding additional insurance and I again declined. She asked me about upgrading the car to a bigger SUV and I declined. When we picked up the car at Reagan Int’l Airport in DC, the woman behind the counter was nice, but spoke quickly and softly. I rented through Budget because I got bonus miles with my Capital One Venture card. Will never rent with Budget again after feeling like I’ve been swindled. After being a long time hirer from Budget this will be the last time, don’t promise things you have no intention of doing. The email address on the website and spoken in the Hold Message on the phone doesn’t work (i was told by Budget the apparent correct one) and the website email form doesn’t work which means you can only contact them by phone, generally after long wait times. If you say your going to refund then do it don’t mess your customers about. There has been no communication from Budget, staff have not been helpful in actually helping and no refund made. Was told on day I rang they would refund 6 days of unused car rental which was quoted as £197.94 but this was reduced 5 weeks later to £87 due to unused vouchers. Ring up about 8 or so times, given multitude of excuses. Suffice to say it’s been 6 weeks and nothing yet done. Had to return home 6 days early and advised no refunds on prepaid but would do so this time once israel send confirmation of booking closure, ie I returned the car on the date I said I returned it. website, which I’ve done every year since 2013, and prepaid. ![]()
